I never turn down unwanted birds.
Their daily seed is from SunSeed, and they also get Zupreem pellets, Millet spray and Cuttlebone.

I feel my birds are well fed at all times and happy. They have lots and lots of toys and new toys all the time. I put music on at daylight and off at dark. I always like suggestions from other bird lovers so feel free to send me e-mail at anytime.
I'm trying walnut shell in the bottom of their cages now and I like it very much for cleaning - so easy to scoop out with a spoon with holes in it.
Well, there you have my tips on my birds.
Would you like to see a complete online cookbook for birds? This was put out by my bird club a couple of years ago, and I decided to put it up on my site. It is all indexed on the first page with the contents. A full 28 page! Enjoy! Better yet, let your birds enjoy!
Also, birds need toys to play with! Some of the best toys that I have ever found are from TLC Toys. You can contact Jean and Art Glur for more information. Their toys should be online soon. Meanwhile, if you visit Abby's Toy Page you can see an umbrella cockatoo playing with a great toy from TLC.

Maggie is my 5 year old Mexican Red Headed Amazon. She came to live with us around May of this year. The lady that had her was 85 years old. She'd had Maggie from a baby. The bird was never in a cage, only on a T-stand. She didn't know what toys were, or a cage. We put her T-stand perch and cups on top of a cage, and she is now going into her cage, and sitting on the perch on the side of her cage where her treat dish is.
I am very sad to say that Maggie passed away this past weekend, April 28th. She's been sick for a long time and last year I had her into the vet and on medications. She would seem good, then bad, then good again. I could see her going down hill in the last couple weeks. My new Sun Conure, Pookie, the last two days has sat by her and preened her so I knew something was going on. We went to out the night before and when we got back all the birds were yelling and when I walked in she was down on the floor and couldn't move, like her legs were going out on her. I put her in a cage by herself with no perches and petted her and talked to her and this morning she was gone. I really never new much about her or how old she was. She was such a nice Amazon. My friend Lorna picked her up about three years ago from a 85 year old lady that couldn't take care of her anymore. So we knew nothing about her.

This is a picture of my pet African Grey Congo "Smokey Joe".
I got Smokey Joe in the fall of 1997 - he was a year old. Talks all the time

This is a picture of my pet Timneh African Grey "Charlie". I've had Charlie about five years - my first big bird. Very good talker but nothing like the congo. Got him from a man who didn't want him anymore and he was then about five years old he said. We all know how reliable words are. I love him anyway.

This is a picture of "Mousie" (White Face Cockatiel) and "Geno" (Quaker) playing. Geno I got as a baby and finished hand feeding, he's about five
years old and never stops talking. Picks up every word he hears.
The little white face cockatiel is out of a pair I once owned and looks like
his father. He's two years old and a pest. With me all the time - eats off my
plate at meals and helps me at the computer. He talks also and picking up
thing more and more from the Quaker.

Sam is a beautiful pied that was one of my breeders and not a tame bird at all. He can be very independant and naughty. He just has the run of the bird room with the others now. Sassy is special. He was the very first Cockatiel I bought and was so sassy I didn't know what to do with him. I really didn't like him at first but he grew on me. He is a pearl and when first molt came around he turned grey. I put him in breeding with a lutino and had many beautiful babies. She died at the place I sold all the cockatiels to and when I went over there I asked to buy Sassy back to let him live out his life here now and also brought Sam home with him. They will both just be pets now.

This is "Bud" our Boxer who has to put up with birds like Geno taking baths in his water. Bud is now 6 years old. He's in the bird room all the time to see what they drop for him. Geno takes his bath in Bud's water dish and eats dog food with him everyday. Bud is 6 this month (August), and is my shadow. He's a very good watch dog.

Teddy Sue was put to sleep on October 20th. She was 15 years old, blind and deaf. She is a Daisy - at that time they called these dogs Daisy Dogs. She is the second one I had like that. The other one died of old age too. She was silver and had three batches of puppies. I had people on waiting for her pups. They are nice dogs.
